Ceres Rail Company presents a three-night experience to Arabella Hotel, Golf and Spa – 4 to 7 July 2025 – and its not just for Golfers!
Get ready for a relaxing long weekend escape that blends nostalgic rail travel, championship golf, scrumptious dining, and slow-paced leisure — all set against the scenic beauty of the Overberg.
Your journey begins at 13h30 on Friday, 4 July, from the platform alongside the AC Hotel by Marriott, Dockrail Road, Foreshore, Cape Town. Step aboard our heritage train for a relaxed afternoon ride through the Cape and across the iconic Sir Lowry’s Pass. Along the way, we’ll stop at the Elgin Railway Market for an early supper and craft drinks, whereafter shuttles will transfer guests to the Arabella Hotel, Golf & Spa for check-in.
Guests will enjoy three nights’ accommodation in deluxe rooms with breakfast included each morning. Over the weekend, golfers will play two rounds of 18-hole golf — one at the renowned Arabella Golf Estate on Saturday, and another at Hermanus Golf Club on Sunday, with all green fees, golf carts, and transfers included.
Non-golfers and families won’t miss out either— the itinerary options include spa, wine tasting excursions, and leisure activities suitable for couples and kids alike.
Evenings feature a combination of dining and relaxed social gatherings:
Friday: Dinner at Elgin Railway Market (own account)
Saturday: Buffet dinner at Arabella
Sunday: Braai dinner
On Monday morning, after a leisurely breakfast, guests are transferred to Botrivier Station where our train awaits for a scenic return to Cape Town. Expect to arrive back at by 16h00.

2. We do not permit own food or drinks on board, but we do allow baby foods and items related to health conditions
3. No smoking is permitted.
4. We cannot control the actions of communities alongside the rail line, although we do out best to. We do have sporadic incidents of stones that are thrown at the train through certain areas; we undertake to do our best to monitor the known hotspots to ensure passengers are protected, and communities are engaged. We have patrollers on duty at various points along the railway line.
